School safety, Shootings, Guns,

and the likelihood of it coming to your school and community

As we continue to see gun violence across our nation on the rise, and the school shootings being part of our natural landscape, we all should be frightened. what are our elected officials doing to combat this on-going violence? As of today, not a lot of progress, just the same “political grandstanding” that we see after each school shooting across this Great Nation.

Once, would it not be wonderful to see a corroborative effort to really tackle this plaguing disease of constant gun violence, senseless murders in our streets?

I am all-in on leading this effort. I am not talking about just a one sided “lets band all firearms” and the problem goes away. This isn't the answer. Its an emotional play to allow emotions to be tricked into thinking this is problem can be quickly remedied. We have a complex murder problem that will require complex and critical thinking and problem solving by many individuals to reduce and minimize this crisis. Citizens, law enforcement, as well as community leaders must work in an alliance to bring the “best strategies” to the forefront in making all of our communities a safe place for our families.

The current Sheriff of Guilford County is mostly silent on gun violence, as well as school safety. I hear no statements, or conversations generated by the Sheriff. The Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County.  The Sheriff can use his podium to advocate for better school safety. The lack of transparency by the Guilford County School Board and Superintendent should have attracted the Sheriff’s attention.

The Sheriff must develop a cooperative relationship with our schools-protecting the students in our Guilford County Schools System is imperative. He should be having regular dialog and attending the School Board Meetings. He should be representing the Parents and students who elected him to serve as their Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County.

If the Voters make the right decision November 3th, 2026, I will be the voice for the Parents, students, and staff of the Guilford County Schools for their safety and well being. We can’t do four more years with this same Sheriff and expect any better results.
