I would like to take this opportunity to share with my Guilford County communities—why I am running to be your Guilford County Sheriff. My decision to run doesn't come lightly. My decision is solely based on providing the citizens of Guilford County a choice to elect a Sheriff with no other motive in mind other than providing the most responsible leadership in the State with the professional service you should expect. It is a honor to receive SHERIFF BJ BARNES’S ENDORSEMENT. It derives from working under his Administration for 20 years of my career, working in a Supervisory and at the Command level. Sheriff BJ Barnes understands the leadership and vast experience it will require to bring stability back to the Office of Sheriff, he was our Guilford County Sheriff for 24 years.
Being a Leader is partly natural and partly developed through the experience and culmination of education. Having the commitment to learn from others to develop the skills of persuasion, patience, and to accept mentoring from leaders along your way.
A successful Leader must be able to lead with purpose and have a plan to succeed. They also must have gained the trust, loyalty, and support of the people they are leading to meet the objectives and goals proposed in the plan.
Responsible Leadership is what I bring to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. I bring 30 years of prior service with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. I bring my dedication, passion, and desire to be the BEST. I have commanded the Personnel & Training Division, Internal Affairs Division, School Resource Officers Division, and the Field Operations Division. I have been a detention officer, patrol officer, narcotics officer, and a criminal investigator.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office needs “Responsible Leadership.” What I will promise is to work steadfast on a professional law enforcement organization with men and women eager and ambitious to make a difference in the quality of lives of our citizens and to provide quality unbiased service to its communities. Restoring Morale will create a more productive Sheriff’s Office.
I will treat our employees with respect, fairness, and work hard to gain their trust. I will work relentlessly for ways to make our employees feel appreciated, and their service valued in more than just words. A Sheriff is a Constitutional Officer. The duties are unique, and are wider in scope than many other law enforcement executives. I understand the role of a Sheriff, and will bring my knowledge, experience, and desire to lead the most professional Sheriff’s Office in the State of North Carolina.
